They may change your seat even after you board the aircraft. The most common reasons for changing your seat include operational and security reasons.

They will try to give you an alternative seat that matches your needs. If you are traveling with a group, they may try to seat you together. They will try to match your preference for the window, aisle, or middle seat. If you do not get a suitable alternative, you can apply for a refund.

You may claim your refund for reserved seats within 30 days after the completion of the last flight. You also need to meet the following conditions;

1. You paid for an upgrade and don't want to pay the difference to reselect your seat in a different cabin

2. There is a change in aircraft or your flight was canceled. In this case, British Airways may be unable to find you an alternative seat that matches your preferences

British Airways should process it and send it to you within three weeks after the flight is canceled. If you don't receive it, contact the support team for help or fill in the 'Refund for Paid Seating' form.

You don't qualify for a refund under the following conditions;

1. If British Airways upgrades you

2. If you canceled your flight
